Who We Are

Science in the Field,
Ethics in Practice

The partnership that started Science Safaris began in 2013 when Brett and Mike met in Tanzania and forged a life-long friendship.  In the years since, Mike has guided hundreds of safaris and Brett has worked as a scientist at universities in the US and the Netherlands.

Science Safaris is the culmination of years of effort and learning.  Mike brings his local place-based kn.owledge and insights.  Brett brings his experience as an interdisciplinary biologist and trained educator.  Together, they provide world-class educational safaris, field experiences, and in-country logistical support to students, curious individuals, and scientists working in the field.

We offer a superior safari to curious individuals and groups who seek a deeper connection and understanding of the Serengeti.

Our Pillars

Employee-owned & Fairtrade

We take care of our employees.  Guides, staff, chef, and support crew are paid a fair wage that includes gratuitity.  We only work with lodges and businesses that treat their staff fairly.

Ecological & Sustainable Safaris

Leave only footprints; take only photos.  This is our motto.  We recycle and reuse. We pack out trash.  We minimize plastic. We strictly adhere to local rules and stay on designated roads.

Curiosity-driven

Why does the Great Migration occur?  Why do antelope have horns?  Why do zebras have stripes? How do the volcanoes influence biodiversity? We can answer these questions and encourage you to ask more.  We cultivate curiosity and teach you the whole story of the Serengeti.
